Laser optimized multimode fiber is recognized as the medium of choice to support these high speed data networks. Optical fiber manufacturers have greatly refined their manufacturing process since that standard was issued and cables can be made that support 10 GbE up to 550 meters. Laser optimized multi-mode fiber (LOMMF) is designed for use with 850 nm VCSELs. Today, this evolution continues with the development of OM4 multimode fiber as the industry prepares itself for speeds of 40 and 100 Gb/s.

Support for the Cisco quality identification (ID) feature which helps a Cisco switch to identify if the module is certified and tested by Cisco.The QSFP+ transceiver link length for either 40 Gigabit Ethernet or high density 10 Gigabit Ethernet application can be 100 m using OM3 fiber or 150 m using OM4 fiber. Modules adds digital diagnostic monitoring to standard SDH SFP

The SFP modules are high performance, cost effective for serial optical Tel communications applications that range from 125 Mb/s to 2.7 Gb/s. They are designed to provide SDH SFP compliant links for both short and intermediate reach links. The Modules adds digital diagnostic monitoring to standard SDH SFP functionality, enabling fault isolation, components monitoring and failure prediction capabilities. The modules conform to the function specification of ITU-T G.957 standard and fully Class 1 CDRH/IEC 825.
This product is provided to ODM customers. Designated the SFP-155E, this transceiver uses 75-V coax cable with DIN 1.0/2.3 connectors (see the figure). It conforms to the synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) STM-1 standard (similar to Sonet OC-3), which delivers a data rate of 155 Mbits/s on coax up to 100 meters long. Additionally, the module fully complies with ITU-T G.703 (ES1) recommendations. It's designed to meet ITU-T G.825 jitter specifications as well.

The TX_Fault output contact is an open drain/collector and shall be pulled up to the Vcc_Host in the host with a resistor in the range 4.7-10 kΩ. TX_Disable is a module input contact. When TX_Disable is asserted high or left open, the SDH SFP Module output shall be turned off. This contact shall be pulled up to VccT with a 4.7 kΩ to 10 kΩ resistor The receiver converts 10Gbit/s serial optical data into serial PECL/CML electrical data. An open collector compatible Loss of Signal is provided. Rx_LOS when high indicates an optical signal level below that specified in the relevant standard.
